A Tall Order
The new issue of The Prehistoric Times magazine is coming out and I forgot to share my submission! The choices for this issue were between Arizonasaurus (a Triassic archosaur meat eater found…somewhere? I forget where) and Alamosaurus (a massive Cretaceous titanosaur found in the southwest and obviously Texas). I wanted to do something a little different and I think I succeeded…
Now, since I didn’t have much experience with sauropods I wanted to channel the master of dinosaur art, William Stout. Even with awkwardly shaped critters, he always manages to make a brilliant composition. So when they first announced the issue was about to come out I was blown away by the fact that chose a William Stout image for the cover of this issue! You can go to the Prehistoric Times website here if you want to order a copy of this issue. (Mr. Stout also designed their logo years ago. He’s amazing.)
You can definitely see my inspiration. Also, (I don’t know if this still holds true but it did at the time of submission) I apologized for the odd sizing and the man behind the dinos, Mike Fredericks, told me that he expected tall compositions with a titanosaur, but that mine was definitely the tallest! I was honored! 😂
Have a good weekend. Be safe. Watch out for yourself and your neighbors. We will get through this.

Well done! I could see the Stout influence (hard not to be when it comes to well rendered dinosaurs) in there but it definitely is your work.
I still have a copy of Stout’s The Dinosaurs that my grandmother gave me when I was eight and at the peak of my dino-crazy years.
