Let's Get It Right
An auction was held for 3 Bob Ross paintings to make up some of the shortfall of funding after the trump regime cut Public Broadcasting’s budget by $1.1 billion. The paintings raised around $600,000 which is not even close to making up the amount slashed, but it is an amazing number.
And in true “Merica” fashion there are a ton of stories touting Bob Ross as “still an American hero” and a “feel good story”. Except that last one ain’t true.
Don’t get me wrong. Bob is ABSOLUTELY an American hero, much like Public Broadcasting. He taught millions of people that art wasn’t something to be scared of, it was something to attempt and experience. Something to help you look inward and and see the beauty of the world around you. It wasn’t necessary to be good. PBS taught you the same except about…everything else. You didn’t have to be from Louisiana or France to learn about their cooking. You didn’t have to be from space to experience the excitement of a supernova. All you had to do was be curious.
But the “feel good story” angle is garbage. All the good I mentioned above was a bridge too far for this administration. These bootlickers decided they wanted kids to grow up illiterate and hating empathy, so bye-bye Sesame Street. Having a basic concept of historical context? Oh NO! Can’t have an informed electorate. Makes it much harder to control them. Understanding and appreciating other cultures and norms? GOOD LORD…IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH PEOPLE DIFFERENT FROM YOU THEN YOU WON’T REMAIN COMPLIANT WITH FEAR!
So, as usual…my message is to hell with the GOP (Guarding Our Pedophiles now, I believe?) and watch out for each other. I hope you had a decent week and take care of yourselves this weekend.
