Paintmonkey Substack Intro

I guess I should introduce myself officially. It’s only polite. I’m John. I am the Paintmonkey. This is a super imaginative name that I grabbed because I really enjoy spelling out weird email addresses to strangers. I call myself that because 1) I paint, 2) my grandfather called us his little monkeys, and 3) my first one man show was titled Monkey With a Paintbrush, because at no point have I ever taken myself too seriously. Paintmonkey was just the natural consolidation of a lazy lazy man.

I assume this explains my politics.

I do a lot of cartoons but I also make actual art. For years I did a plein aire event at Zoo Atlanta for a fundraiser. I still paint a ton of animals and I regularly submit art to The Prehistoric Times magazine with paleo-art.

There’s probably more but it’ll come out eventually. I like talking a lot sometimes.
