Randomly Drawn
April 29, 2026
Another week of random cartoon nonsense, but this week it comes with a bit of scientific knowledge! Looking through all the old advertising mascots last week, I came upon an old favorite. They would play commercials for Chicken of the Sea and the mascot Charlie Tuna had…a death wish? As I recall? He always wanted to be taken and smashed into a tin can for sandwiches? Man, people should be happy Gen X folk are as stable as we are.
Anyways…the cartoon Charlie always made me believe tuna were about the size of people, give or take a little for cartoon physics. Much later I saw a picture of people reeling in an Atlantic bluefin! Those big things can get upwards of 600 lbs. and over 8 feet long for the AVERAGE ones. The biggest ever caught was almost 1500 lbs. and nearly 13 feet long. So I started sketching an accurate Charlie the tuna.
I hope your week is going well and this gave you a nice little factoid for Hump Day. Be safe and take care of yourselves.

Yeah, these commercials always made as much sense as the barbecue joints with smiling, bib adorned pigs brandishing a knife and fork. Buddy, you weren’t invited for dinner in the way you suspected.
Cool tuna facts!
